What We Teach

Cosmetology School of Columbia College consists of intensive practice and lecture designed to prepare students to take the Virginia State Board of Cosmetology examination for licensure. We offer rigorous, practical, and technical courses based on the most innovative curriculums in the industry.
Each course consists of various sub-courses which gave a basic, intermediate, and advanced skills and knowledge of chemistry, anatomy, physiology, hair cutting, hair styling, permanent waving, manicuring, pedicuring, facials and makeup, salon management, instructing, etc. in Cosmetology.

The four basic elements of cosmetology are hair, nails, skin, & makeup. These are umbrella categories comprised of different skills, procedures, and treatments. A licensed cosmetologist trained in each area will have various career opportunities.
